Playwright Ron Hunting considers his biographical drama, "Kennedy," which opens Friday at Theater Works, as more than the story of the persona of the 35th president of the United States.
"I feel like it’s about a time and not just a person," he said. "There were a lot of things that happened during his presidency, but many people often focus on the tabloid stuff."
Hunting said many major events occurred during President John F. Kennedy’s three years in office, including the civil rights movements and the Cuban Missile Crisis.
"People tend to focus on the assassination or the Marilyn Monroe thing, that they tend forget about some of the important things that took place," he said. "It was a significant time for him and this nation."
